Species: Agastache mexicana
Mexican lemon balm, also known as purple melissa, is a medicinal plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family and is endemic to Mexico. It can reach up to 60 cm in height, with lance-shaped, serrated leaves and clusters of red flowers. Its natural habitat includes tropical deciduous forests and pine-oak forests. It is traditionally used for medicinal purposes, particularly in relation to the nervous system. Uses: Infusions of melissa are known for their calming effects and, when taken before bedtime, may help promote sleep. Inhalations made with its essential oil or fresh herbs are also recommended to help relieve respiratory conditions such as cough or hay fever.
